Privacy and Cookie Policy
1. Who we are
This policy explains what personal data is processed when you visit the English version of quickramdisk.pro (the "Site") and use the QuickRAMDisk app (the "App"), how cookies and browser storage are used, and what rights you have. The Russian version of the Site has its own policy in Russian.
The controller of your personal data is QuickRAMDisk Team, the developer of QuickRAMDisk ("we", "us"). Contact: dev@quickramdisk.pro.
We process only the data needed for the purposes below. We do not use it for profiling or automated decisions that affect you.
2. What we process and why
| Data | Purpose | Legal basis (GDPR) |
|---|---|---|
| Server logs: IP address, date and time, requested page, referring page, browser details (User-Agent) — recorded automatically by our hosting provider's web server | Running the Site, protecting it from attacks, troubleshooting | Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) |
| Google Analytics, only if you click "Accept": cookie identifiers, pages viewed, referring page, time on the Site, clicks on links including downloads, browser, device and screen details, approximate location (city or region) derived from your IP address | Understanding how visitors use the Site and improving it | Your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) |
Update check: when the App starts or you check for updates, it requests https://quickramdisk.pro/api/update.json; the server receives your IP address and the App name and version | Telling App users about new versions | Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) |
| Emails you send to dev@quickramdisk.pro: email address, name if provided, message content | Answering your request, including licensing inquiries | Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)); steps taken at your request before a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) |
The App has no telemetry: apart from the update check it sends no data about your disks, files, computer or you. The Site has no sign-up forms, advertising or social media widgets. Fonts, images and Site scripts are served from our own server; the Google Analytics script is loaded from Google only after you consent. The Site tells Google Analytics that advertising storage, advertising data and ad personalization are not permitted.
3. Cookies and browser storage
Strictly necessary storage. Without your consent the Site sets no cookies. It only keeps the following values in your browser's local storage, which are needed for features you ask for, stay in your browser and are never sent to us. Under Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive and similar laws, they do not require consent.
| Key | What it stores | How long |
|---|---|---|
quickramdisk-lang | Your chosen Site language (ru or en) | Until you clear site data in your browser |
quickramdisk-consent-google | Your cookie choice ("Accept" or "Reject") and the policy version it refers to | Until you clear site data in your browser |
Analytics cookies are set by Google Analytics only after you click "Accept":
| Cookie | Purpose | How long |
|---|---|---|
_ga | Distinguishes visitors | 2 years |
_ga_ECCQPR313M | Keeps the session state | 2 years |
Changing your choice. Click "Cookie settings" at the bottom of any page and choose "Reject": Google Analytics stops running and its cookies are deleted from your browser. You can also clear site data in your browser settings or use the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
4. Who receives your data
We do not sell your personal information. Data is only handled by:
- our hosting and email providers, which store the Site, its logs and our mailbox on our behalf;
- Google, as our processor for Google Analytics and only with your consent: Google Ireland Limited for visitors in the EEA and Switzerland, and Google LLC elsewhere. See how Google uses data from sites that use its services;
- authorities, where disclosure is required by law.
App downloads and the issue tracker are hosted on GitHub (github.com/QuickRAMDisk/releases). When you follow a link there or download a file, GitHub, Inc. processes your data under its own privacy statement.
5. International transfers
Google may process Google Analytics data in the United States. Google LLC is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and its UK and Swiss extensions, and Google also relies on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses. For visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland, Google Analytics does not log or store IP addresses; they are used only to derive approximate location and then discarded. We, our hosting and our email providers may process other data outside your country, including outside the EEA and the UK.
6. How long we keep data
Server logs are kept for the log retention period set by our hosting provider and no longer than needed for the purposes above. Event-level Google Analytics data is deleted automatically after the retention period set in our account, which is no longer than 14 months; aggregated reports without identifiers may be kept longer. Emails are kept for as long as needed to handle your request.
7. Security
The Site is available only over HTTPS. Only we have access to the logs, analytics reports and our mailbox.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access your personal data, have it corrected or deleted, restrict or object to its processing, receive it in a portable format and withdraw your consent at any time without affecting processing carried out before. If you are in the EU/EEA or the UK, you can also lodge a complaint with your data protection authority. California residents have the right to know, delete and correct their personal information and will not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
To exercise your rights, email dev@quickramdisk.pro. We will reply within one month.
9. Children
The Site and the App are not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.
10. Changes
We may update this policy. The current version is always published on this page with its date at the top. If a change affects processing based on your consent, we will ask for your consent again.
